AMD Athlon II Neo K125 processor is a single core processor for netbooks and other entry level ultra-thin notebooks or laptop. The operating frequency of the processor is 1.7GHz and has one MB of Level 2 cache. When compare to Intel Atom N450 or N455 processor you will find Athlon Neo K125 processor is one step advance. Atom N450 and N455 processor operates with 1.66 GHz frequency and has 512KB of L2 cache.
AMD Athlon Neo processor K125 supports DDR3 memory and it connects with memory via integrated memory controller. The maximum memory module it support is DDR3-1066.The processor communicates with other peripheral chipsets through a 16 bit bi-directional Hyper Transport link which operates with data rate of 2GT/s.
The maximum CPU bandwidth of AMD Athlon II Neo K125 processor is 17GB/s the socket it support is S1
The TDP or Thermal Design Power of Athlon Neo K125 is 12W. When comes to advance technology, it incorporates MMX, 3D Now technology and instruction set from SSE-SSE4A. Also it incorporated AMD virtualization technology that offers running multiple operating system in single machine. However, Intel Atom N455 and N450 both the processor doesn’t comes with Intel virtualization technology. Other features of AMD Athlon II Neo K125 processor comes with are AMD64 technology and Enhanced Virus Protection.
Though Intel Atom N455 processor supports both DDR2 and DDR3 memory but N450 processor supports only DDR2 memory while Athlon Neo K125 supports DDR3 memory.
Second of all, K125 processor comes with ATI Radeon HD 4250/4225 graphics which is much better than Intel GMA 3150 (comes with Atom 450/455). Thus overall performance of Athlon Neo K125 equipped machine will be better than Intel Atom N450 integrated devices. However Intel Atom N450or N455 comes with Hyper threading technology so for multitasking, it works better.
The passmark score for K125 processor is 425, windows 7 experience index is 4 which is very close to that of Intel Core 2 Duo T5670 having 4.7.
